How to Optimize iPhone Battery Life

How to Optimize iPhone Battery Life

The evolution of the smartphone is one that has undoubtedly impacted the daily lives of people in a positive way across the globe. The sheer convenience of the capabilities that it has to offer makes it such a handy tool that people often find themselves lost when they are without it.
iPhones are among the top grossing mobile smartphones purchased and used in the United States today, but what happens when they lose their charge?
Here are 4 simple ways to increase the life of your iPhone. These suggestions apply to all  iPhone models and they are quick, simple, and beneficial for your everyday convenience.

I. Before You Begin

1.  Please note that any of the following adjustments will only have an effect on the battry life of your iPhone; nothing else.

II. Airplane Mode

  1. Scroll through your screen selections on your device and tap the Settings icon.
  2. The first option that appears is Airplane modSwitch from ON to OFF.
This is extremely useful for not only airplane exposure, but also for public transportation units such as the Subway. When you are underground you lose service bars and are unable to make/receive phone calls. If this is kept on, your iPhone is constantly searching for service, which reduces battery life.

II. Disabling the Wi-Fi Capability

  1. After you switch the Airplane Mode to OFF, underneath it there is a header titled Wi-Fi > Tap the selection.
  2. Here it will list the network that you currently have your iPhone connected to as well as other local connection options, or it will be set to OFF
  3. Tap the switch > Set to OFF
This will preserve and increase the battery life of your iPhone by eliminating the search of all possible local networks around you in hopes of finding a “hot spot.” The constant search for a network will eventually drain your battery.

 III. Brightness

  1. In your Settings > tap Brightness.
  2. Slide the indicator from the far right toward the left; this will dim your screen.
This is the most effective way to increase your daily use of the iPhone. When the indicator is placed all the way to the right, your iPhone is on its ultimate brightness capacity, which ultimately reduces battery life at a rapid speed. Adjusting this setting will drastically increase your daily use of the phone by several hours per day.

IV. Push Notifications

  1. Within Settings, scroll down to Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Tap the selection.
  2. From there, Tap Fetch New Data.
  3. Next to Push > Tap OFF
Underneath Push, it has the Fetch Option. You have the option here to select when your iPhone will “Fetch” for new data. By turning off the Push Notifications, you can set it to fetch every 15 minutes, so that your iPhone is not constantly streaming for updates every minute, which kills the battery life.
After this, turn your phone off and then back on again to reboot. From here on out, you will be able to notice a drastic increase in battery life with your iPhone. You will get much more use of it throughout the day, and continue to benefit from all of its conveniences.
