How to Overclock the Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360)



Want to get a bit more speed out of your samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360) smartphone? No worries, here’s how you can do that. Overclocking your device will provide you with better speeds and doing so is actually a child’s play, here’s how:


I. Before You Begin:

1. You must have rooted your device before doing this procedure. Please head to our How to Root the Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360) procedure first and root your device.
2. You must have CWM Recovery installed on your device. Head here to learn how to do that.

II. Make a Backup:


1. On your device, head over to the Google Play and download and install the Quick Boot app.
2. Launch the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
3. Hit the Recovery option and you should reboot into the Recovery mode.
4. Once inside Recovery, select backup and restore followed by backup.
5. Backup your entire filesystem and save the backup on your device.
6. You’re done!

III. Downloading Required Files:

IV. Flashing the Overclock Kernel on the Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360):

1. Place the Axiom Kernel zip onto your Desktop.
2. Plug in your device to your PC using the USB cable.
3. Copy the Axiom Kernel zip over to the root of your SD card.
4. Once the kernel has been copied, unplug your device from your PC.
5. Open the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
6. Hit the Recovery option and you will reboot into the Recovery mode.
7. Once there, select install zip from sdcard followed by choose zip from sdcard.
8. Choose the Axiom Kernel zip to be flashed on your device.
9. It should begin flashing the zip on your device
10. Once it has been flashed, reboot your device.
11. You’re done!

V. Overclocking the Samsung Galaxy Y (GT-S5360):

1. Download and install any of these apps on your device:
2. Once downloaded and installed, open the app from your App Drawer.
3. Increase the CPU clock speed using the app and keep doing so as long as your device is stable with it.
4. Make sure not to choose save on boot option in the app.
5. Once you’re comfortable with a specific clock speed, close the app.
6. You’re all done!
Great! Your Galaxy Y has now truly been overclocked!

VI. Reverting Back to the Stock Kernel (Optional):

1. Launch the Quick Boot app from your App Drawer.
2. Hit the Recovery option and you will reboot into the Recovery mode.
3. Once inside Recovery, select backup and restore followed by restore.
4. Restore the backup you created in one of the earlier sections.
5. Reboot your device once the backup’s been restored.
6. You’re done!
Congrats! You’re back to the stock kernel with no support for overclocking!
