How to Update  the Samsung Galaxy Y Duos (S6102) To 4.2 ( Custom-Rom) (Video)

I.  Before You Begin

1.  Back up everything you feel is important before you begin.

2.  Make sure you have charged your device to 85% or more before you begin.

3.  Your device needs to be rooted and . (for root your samsung Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102 click here  ) a custom recovery such as  CWM installed (for instillation of CWM on your samsung Galaxy Y Duos GT-S6102 click here )

Mobile must be rooted

• First your mobile must be rooted. Check this – How to root Samsung Galaxy Y

Then install ClockWorkMod custom Recovery. Check this – How to install ClockWorkMod Recovery on Samsung Galaxy Y Duos 

ROM Features:

II.  Necessary Downloads

• Download Jelly Bean 4.2 based  ROM.zip file to your desktop (but do not unzip it)

• Download Google Apps package zip file (do not unzip this either)

Preparations

• Make sure you have the original USB cable that came with your galaxy Y Duos
•  it is also important that you enable USB debugging on your Samsung Galaxy Y Duos by going to Settings > Developer options > USB Debugging
• You must have all the drivers installed on your computer to support your Samsung Galaxy Y Duos

III. Steps to Install ROM 4.2 

 

Step 1 - After you’ve downloaded the zip files listed above in the downloads section, connect your galaxy Y to the computer via USB cable and move both these zip files to your Galaxy Y Duos's root storage in plain sight (not in any folder). Disconnect after moving the files.

Step 2 - Now boot your galaxy Y Duos  into recovery mode by pressing Volume up + Home button + Power button. you are now in recovery mode.

Step 3 - Now select clear cache to clear system cache, and dalvik cache under Advanced. Now go back to recovery menu and select Wipeout data / factory reset to wipe the data.

Step 4 - Next, select Install Zip from SD card and choose the Jelly Bean 4.2  ROM zip file that you moved earlier – install it. After that completes, do the same for the Google Apps package zip file and install it.

Step 5 - After you’ve flashed both zip files select the ++++Go Back++++ option to go back to the recovery menu and select Reboot system now
